UCSO speaks to Amazon about frustrations

The Union County Sheriff’s Office recently met with the local Amazon facility. With many criminal and non-criminal complaints coming to our dispatch center, and being put on our local community pages, the SO wanted to get some information out about how to get the complaints heard.

First and foremost, the package tracking number is key to the complaint. All the drivers who deliver the packages work for a third-party company These drivers often come from out of state and don’t stay in Union County for long. The package is what ties the driver to the delivery. The tracking number starts with “TBA” and will be needed for the complaint.

When a package is delivered, a message with a photo comes up asking how the driver did. That’s an important survey to complete every time. It makes an impact to the drivers’ status with deliveries.

There is also a way to file complaints through the app or website under your account if that survey isn’t detailed enough.

Calling 888-281-6906 may be more effective in getting a complaint heard than through the app. However, the important thing to get is proof. Taking a photo or having video of the package or delivery driver is vital.

Complaints need to have more detail than just stating the package was mis-delivered.

Additionally, Amazon shows the photo of who will deliver the package, if you can, verify through your own security camera that the person matches the photo. Misdirection like that is extremely important to be aware of and report.

For businesses who have problems, note the delivery time of the package. If drivers are leaving packages outside the door of a closed building, then a complaint like that can make a difference. The SO wants to remind the community that if the drivers are doing anything criminal then call the non-emergency dispatch line. We are only able to handle the criminal complaints but want to provide the community with additional information so they can get the help they want.
