Out-of-State Concealed Handgun License
We get many inquiries from people from outside the state about obtaining an Oregon Concealed Handgun License.
Oregon law does allow us to issue a permit to residents of contiguous states. It states; “The Sheriff may waive the residency requirement in subsection (1)(c) of this section for a resident of a contiguous state who has a compelling business interest or other legitimate demonstrated need.” This means you must own a business or own property in Union County to be issued a permit and be able to provide proof.
If you currently have an Oregon permit and wish to renew you must also meet the same criteria or we will not be able to renew your permit.
If you meet the requirements above, fill out the form at this link: Out of State Residents
You MUST fill out the form before applying for a CHL. If you do not, then your application will be denied.
Once you have been approved by the Sheriff, go to the Permitium website and fill out the application.
