Altercation leads to citation

August 2, 2023

On July 8, 2023, at 12:48 AM, the Union County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a fight in progress at the Elgin Station, 52 N 8th St, Elgin. According to dispatch, there was a man who was unconscious, and the other party involved had left prior to the deputies arrival.
Upon arrival, deputies found one male who was intoxicated and injured from the altercation. He was identified as Stanley “James” Johnson of Elgin Oregon.
While on scene, deputies were approached by Kayla Laber, of Elgin Oregon, who stated she was also involved in the incident.
After numerous interviews and a thorough investigation, on July 28, 2023, Johnson was cited in lieu of lodging on a charge of Assault in the Fourth degree, and Disorderly conduct.
Laber was cited in lieu of lodging on a charge of disorderly conduct.
The case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review and additional charges may be filed.
