The UCSO offers an in-person Concealed Handgun License class that covers what a responsible gun owner needs to know about their rights to protect their property, and themselves.
This class is approximately four hours in length and goes through Oregon law and real-life scenarios. This completes the requirement for a firearms class. Participants will receive their certificate at the end of the class and will use that to apply for a new Concealed Handgun License through Sheriff’s Office website.
The cost is $75 and is non-refundable. If you cannot make a class then you can apply the money toward a future class. Please email cherisek@union-county.org to move your name to a different class list. **Classes are subject to change due to low attendance.

Protecting yourself, family and property
The goal of this class is to make sure you’re ready for the responsibility of conceal carry. If you are undecided in whether you want to have that burden, then this class will present you with scenarios that will make you think of the ramifications of pulling the trigger.
If, at the end of the class, you decide you do not want to conceal carry then it is better you figure that out now, rather than after a traumatic event. The class is good for those who are experienced with firearms, and especially good for those who are inexperienced. A firearms safety training is never a waste of time.
This class will not be hands-on. Firearms are not allowed in the class. There are other businesses that teach firearm handling. There is more information about that under the Concealed Handgun License page.
We hold classes semi-regularly. Please check back on this page for updated dates.
